About CG Formulas™
Our Heritage
CG Formulas™ is the consumer-facing brand of Chulgwon Formulas™, a San Diego company rooted in traditional East Asian herbal formulation.
We Inherited More Than Formulas. We Inherited the Knowledge to Create Them.
CG Formulas comes from a living lineage of herbal knowledge passed from master to student. In this tradition, family is not defined only by blood. A master may be regarded as a father, and the student entrusted with his teachings becomes responsible for preserving, understanding, and eventually passing that knowledge forward. In this way, the knowledge remains within the family across generations.
What was preserved was not simply a fixed collection of recipes. The greater inheritance was the understanding needed to develop formulas with purpose: the traditional qualities of individual ingredients, how they complement one another, the proportions used, and the method of preparation. A master could listen to a need and draw upon that knowledge to formulate an appropriate preparation. This creative understanding is central to the CG Formulas heritage.
Our foundation is connected to the Moo Doe tradition and its emphasis on continued learning, disciplined practice, and responsible transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next.
This same foundation extends across the CG Formulas family. Our Signature Series, Vital Step collection, Herbal Soaks, Traditional Herbal Teas, and other CG Formulas preparations are different expressions of a shared lineage of knowledge. The product form may change; the underlying principles of intentional formulation remain.
Traditional East Asian herbal practice draws upon generations of study of plants, roots, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. Rather than focusing solely on isolated ingredients, practitioners developed complete preparations in which each component serves a purpose within the whole.
Today, CG Formulas carries this knowledge forward with practical products for training, physically demanding work, active living, and thoughtful daily self-care. We respect the traditional foundation while presenting these preparations in formats suited to modern life.
